Description
Viowiess Prizma Viol shaped mutes are based on the original Kaston mutes first patented in 1971. Prizma Viols offer several advantages over the mass-produced rubber tourte mutes synonymous with an entry-level student mute. Specifically: Prizma mutes sound better because they filter out fewer overtones during volume reduction (aka muting). This feat is accomplished using 3D-printing magic. They don't buzz or rattle on the string and fit anywhere on the bridge. Prizma Viols produce a light, playful mezzo piano and replicate the sound popular with 1950's recording artists when this mute was still hand-made from wood, leather, and glue.
Each mute is unique and is available in 5 color combinations:
- Amber series products contain a dominant mix of oranges, yellows, browns, and intense reds.
- Amethyst series products sport purples, pinks, light blues, and darker reds.
- Emerald series products feature a mix of light to dark greens, off yellows, teals and off-blues.
- Sapphire products mainly contain blues with hints of green, violet, and purple.
- Onyx series are black but may contain undertones from any of the other color series as well as streaks of gray and white.
