Description
The Viowiess Dual Tone mute revives a shape popular in the 17th and 18th centuries when mutes were exclusively made by hand using wood, bone, leather, and metal scrap. We call this our soloist mute because it produces two distinct effects. The mute sounds different because it filters out fewer overtones during volume reduction (aka muting). We accomplish this feat using 3D-printing magic and material science. Place it on-top of the bridge for a pianissimo that filters out higher and lower overtones while preserving mid-range overtones. Pinch it up against the bridge for a mezzo piano that evenly filters half of the bridge. This mute is designed for players interested in expanding their instrument's acoustic repertoire.
Produces a rich, vibrant sound with warm undertones while reducing volume. Flexible material adjusts to fit standard bridge setups Use with synthetic or gut strings. The patented acoustic honeycomb balances volume reduction with acoustic fidelity (the ability to mute while retaining the tonal quality). The resulting muted sounds are incredibly rich and clear yet that no other mutes have been able to achieve.
