Pernambuco has been the wood of choice for the best bows for centuries. It is a dense and heavy wood that comes from several areas in Brazil. It seems to possess just the right combination of responsiveness, elasticity, and strength. Octagon, wire or imitation whalebone grip, fully-lined Parisian eye frog. A bowmaker fully lines the bow (the metal plate comes around the frog all the way to the stick) to denote that the wood of the bow is of a better quality.
